Allison Bird Treacy is a poet, essayist, and professional ghost writer living in Staten Island, NY. Her interests include reviewing poetry and cookbooks, cooking elaborate gluten & dairy free foods, and pretending to be a homesteader while caring for too many cats. Right now, Bird’s  work primarily explores issues of health & disability and mental illness, neurodivergence, literary commentary, and food and its relationship to health, culture, and history.

Bird holds a BA in English Lit and Women’s Studies from Smith College and an MA in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Emory University. She is also an alumna of Girls Write Now, the Hadar Foundation, and Home School Hudson.

  1. Thank you for all you do, especially in the world of marriage equality. I just read your article featured in Equally Wed. I hope you will check out my novel, The Door of the Heart, which touches on this issue from a whole new perspective. Set in Texas, it is a work of fiction, but based upon true stories and current events. Would love to hear back from you with what you think.
